“Indeed, you are of a great moral character”

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate

As we gather to celebrate the blessed Wiladah (birth) of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his purified progeny), we are reminded not only of a historical moment, but of the arrival of the greatest mercy ever sent to mankind.

Interestingly, even non-Muslim scholars and historians have acknowledged the unmatched influence of the Prophet (PBUH). Michael H. Hart, in his book “The 100: A Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History”, ranked Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as number one, citing that:

“He was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular levels.”

Hart observed how the Prophet’s message and leadership transformed a fragmented, tribal society into a powerful, ethical civilization—leaving a legacy that shaped the course of global history.

But let us be clear:
While we may mention this recognition, we do not need to refer to Michael Hart—or any historian—to validate the status or credibility of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). His character and greatness are not measured by worldly rankings. His true rank is revealed by the Word of Allah itself.

In Surah Al-Qalam (68:4), Allah says:

وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ
“And indeed, you are of a great moral character.”

This divine testimony is more than enough. When the Creator of the universe describes His final Messenger (PBUH) as having the greatest character, no worldly praise can add to that status.

For the followers of Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them), this day holds even deeper spiritual meaning. We celebrate not just the birth of the Prophet (PBUH), but the birth of divine guidance, the source of all light, whose mission is continued through the Imams of his holy household.

As we reflect on the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his purified progeny), we are reminded that his legacy lives on through the light of the Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them)—those whom Allah purified completely, and whose love is inseparable from the love of the Prophet himself.

In a well-known and profound hadith, the Prophet (PBUH) said:

“Hussain is from me, and I am from Hussain. Allah loves those who love Hussain.”
(Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 3775)

This statement is not merely an emotional expression—it is a theological truth. Imam Hussain (AS) is the living embodiment of the Prophet’s mission, values, and spirit. His stand in Karbala was not a political rebellion; it was a continuation of the Prophet’s path—upholding justice, truth, and the sanctity of Islam, even at the cost of his life.

So as we celebrate the birth of Rasulullah (PBUH), we also renew our allegiance to his household—especially to Imam Hussain (AS), whose love is a sign of true connection to the Prophet.

May Allah, in His infinite mercy, grant us nearness to the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and true love and loyalty to his Ahlul Bayt (AS).
May we live by their example, walk their path, and be among their followers in this life and the next.
And may our hearts beat with the love of Hussain, and never be separated from his cause.
